The overall objective of this project is to promote more evidence-based policy making and support the mainstreaming of migration into the policy-making process. Government officials tasked with administering, collecting, analyzing and disseminating migration data need to have a greater understanding of the current migration situation in Kenya and the skills to continue providing information on the migration situation in order to better inform policy-makers.
This project aims to develop a methodology for migration data –collection, -sharing and -analysis (which includes guidance on gender-sensitive data collection and analysis) and compile existing information into a migration profile report that can serve as a baseline for further reporting. Government officials directly engaged in the collection of this type of information will be trained to improve the quality of existing data and promote the updating of the MP report on a regular basis. Additionally, these same officials will work closely with IOM on developing the tools needed for future data collection.
