6Degree.org is the world’s first crowd funding portal that enables the public to provide direct assistance to individual survivors of human trafficking in a safe and secure way. It intends to help address the imbalance between the numbers of trafficking survivors in need and the resources available to support them. 6 Degree also offers a rare and credible mechanism to facilitate the involvement of concerned individuals in the global movement to eradicate human trafficking.
The primary objective of this project is to secure 6Degree’s long-term sustainability and capacity to continue contributing to the renewed self-sufficiency of victims of trafficking in Asia, by positing it as the Internet’s principal online mechanism with which to channel individual financial commitments to trafficking survivors.
This project aims to attract new users by providing a more compelling user experience through expanding 6Degree’s current rudimentary set of user friendly features. This will be done by means of:
(1) Technological expansion and support at an operational level.
(2) Institutionalizing the portal’s mechanisms within the framework of IOM’s existing administrative structures.
(3) Expanding its user base through promoting the portal’s existence.
(4) Retain its existing donor community by developing a rewarding donor experience that celebrates their contributions and impact.
6Degree.org will address the dual challenges of the insufficient financial resources available to help human trafficking survivors and the limited mechanisms that allow private individuals to participate in the global response to the human trafficking challenge.
