Recognizing the Russian Federation as the main country of destination for Tajik migrant workers, this project proposal will support the Ministry of Health and Social Protection of the Republic of Tajikistan’s (MoHSP) initiative in establishing a cross border TB control mechanism with the Russian Federation and contribute to the implementation of the “Minimum Package for Cross Border TB Control and Care” among Tajik migrants.
Within the framework of the project, the proposed components and activities include establishing a bilateral Technical Working Group that will facilitate the dialogue between the Tajik and Russian authorities and improve political commitment between the key stakeholders to develop a legal framework; improving the capacity of clinical experts commissioned in Dushanbe and developing a system to monitor quality of the migrants health assessment that will be in line with international standards and requirements of the Russian Federation; developing a network of diaspora organizations to create a supportive environment and to empower migrant communities through improving awareness on TB prevention among Tajik migrant workers in their country of destination; increase case detection and improving treatment adherence among Tajik migrants due to a supportive environment for TB diagnosis and treatment in both countries.
