The Commission for Human Rights (CHR) under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, which is engaged with the development, establishment, and enhancement of the government policy in the area of human rights protection has been tasked to develop a Special Report on Migrants’ Rights. The CHR expressed its interest to cooperate with the IOM Mission in Kazakhstan in the preparation of this special report. The Special Report on Migrants’ Rights will include specific recommendations for the development of legislation and policies, thus enhancing the mechanism of migrants’ rights protection in Kazakhstan.
The activities of this action will include an assessment study, Special Report and capacity building activities. Furthermore, IOM will provide to the Government of Kazakhstan a training package on International Migration Law and Human Rights of Migrants, which will be piloted at the beginning of the project and then put on an e-learning platform. IOM will also share best practices on migrants’ rights protection mechanisms of other countries.
