Technical Cooperation on Migration for Government Institutions in Paraguay

The objective of this Project is to strengthen the migration management capacities of the Government of Paraguay, with a particular focus on labour migration. There are four components in this project. The first component is an analysis of the national Paraguayan migration legislation in relation to international norms, with an emphasis on those aspects which relate to labour migration and trafficking. The purpose of this component will be to strengthen the legislation in place and to propose recommendations for improvement to Governmental entities. The second component of this project will research the labour migration dynamics of migrant workers in border areas in order to better understand their socio-economic status. The third component of this project includes the capacity building of government officials as a means of ensuring more effective and efficient migration management. The final element of this project will lead to a series of recommendations for the Government which will assist in improving Paraguay´s migration policy in an integral way.
