Provision of comprehensive information and support services on safe migration practices, notably labour migration, for the tens of thousands of Vietnamese who migrate each year remains fragmented and difficult to access. This situation can entail greater levels of vulnerability to exploitation or human trafficking during the migration process, and difficulties to reintegrate upon return. This project aims to facilitate the safe migration of Vietnamese nationals through the creation of a pilot Migrant Resource Centre (MRC) and the promotion of a better understanding of labour migration issues among relevant stakeholders. By way of services-oriented consultation and communication, trained resource persons will provide integrated services and information to empower intending, actual and returning migrants to make an informed decision about migrating from Vietnam, minimize the risks and maximize the benefits of their migration experience. The work of the centre will be complemented by a range of activities aimed at promoting a better awareness and understanding risks of labour migration among migrant source communities and relevant stakeholders, such as government officials, recruitment agencies and other organizations involved in the migration process.
