Prevention of ‘Modern Slavery’ in Serbia – From Real Life Stories to TV Docudrama

The project aims to contribute to the efforts of the Government of Serbia to prevent trafficking in human beings (THB) by raising awareness of the crime, particularly among vulnerable groups, through an innovative campaign method: TV docudrama. Project activities are multilayered, including the establishment of private-public cooperation modalities among project partners, the realization of one of the 13 episodes of the Modern Slavery project into a docudrama on THB with a working title “Tata” (Dad), and capacity building of Ministry of Interior (MoI) staff to manage an SOS helpline for THB cases. Project results will include a 55-minute TV docudrama, a 10-minute educational trailer, a media campaign launched during the docudrama design, and increased capacity building of MoI staff in identification and reference of victims following calls received through the helpline. The centerpiece of this project is the docudrama Tata, which will raise awareness amongst groups at risk: from clients to potential exploiters, government and NGO staff on the issue of THB. The project will also promote counter trafficking programs, actors and multidisciplinary teams’ cooperation existing in the country.
