This project aims to enhance the capacity of the Bureau of Immigration (BI) to perform its operational functions as the Government of the Philippines’ primary front-line agency in administering and enforcing Philippine immigration laws. In this regard training activities will be conducted in relation to Passenger Assessment, incorporating aspects of both primary and secondary inspection, to enhance skills of BI front-line officers. Assistance will also be provided to the Bureau of Immigration in establishing access to Interpol’s Stolen and Lost Travel Documents (SLTD) database through the Integrated Data Migration System (IDMS) established under a separate initiative implemented by IOM. Once this project has been completed, it is estimated that at least 150 BI personnel will have been trained on various subjects toward enhancing the Bureau’s operational capacities. This project provides co-funding to the EC funded ‘Philippine Border Management Project (PBMP)’.
