This project seeks to strengthen the human resource capacity of the ‘Office National de la Migration’ (ONM) through the provision of training on effective migration and border management practices. In addition to the technical aspects that this initiative seeks to support, the project also focuses on wider policy issues by supporting Haiti in its efforts to institute the changes necessary for an environment that is conducive to improved migration management procedures in line with international best practices.
The project will recruit and train six mid-level management trainees to reinforce the human resources capacity of the Bureau Technique de Recherches (BTR) of the ONM. These officers will be tasked to assist, inter alia, with promoting more orderly cross-border movement processes, as well as with the development of policies relevant to addressing critical migration issues facing Haiti. Four existing officials at the BTR will also indirectly benefit from the project’s capacity building activities.
