Facilitating Cooperation Between the Administrations of Turkey and Somalia to Improve Cooperation on Somali Irregular Migration Management

This project aims to strengthen the capacity of the Department for Foreigners of Turkey to manage irregular migration in a manner consistent with international standards through facilitated discussions and negotiations with selected countries of origin.

The project will:

• Support the organization and holding of a meeting between Turkish and Somali officials in Ankara to discuss the Somali migration to Turkey.

• Facilitate discussions on management of irregular Somali migration and approaches to counter it.

• Provide humanitarian assistance to an accommodation/reception centre serving Somali migrants.

• Consolidate information on Somali migrant patterns and migration management responses in European countries to inform Government of Turkey’s responses.
