This project shall contribute to the enhancement of migration management capabilities and capacities of the Government of the Republic of the Philippines, specific to biometric technology and information. Towards this end, IOM shall carry out a series of training activities, as requested by the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) on behalf of the government, that have been designed to complement and support planned trainings to be conducted under the auspices of the Philippine Border Management Project (PBMP ).
At the end of this project’s timeline, it is expected that the following shall be achieved: (a) the production and dissemination of a manual on the new biometric passport process; (b) government personnel from the DFA and extended PBMP partner agencies will have working knowledge and skills to support the introduction of the new biometric machine readable passport of the Philippines; (c) an overall harmonization of DFA’s and PBMP’s goals and objectives in the arena of national biometric technology education and information; and (d) an increased assurance of the sustainability of project results for both PBMP and the DFA towards the national maintenance of standard identity and migration management.
