The proposed baseline studies – preparatory to the Workshop and 1st Meeting of the EAC Committee of Experts on Migration Health – have as primary goal to provide policy makers, practitioners, and other stakeholders from government agencies, non-governmental organizations and academic institutions with a forum for an exchange of experiences to develop a better understanding on the dynamics involved in migrant’s health and migration of health workers in the EAC region.
By the end of the three-day workshop, participants and focal persons in the EAC Committee of Experts will have discussed opportunities and challenges that face migrants and mobile populations in the health sector, and the critical issue of migration of health workers, which includes a debate on ethics, legislations, policies and innovative ways of improving health service delivery and managing the migration of health workers. A report of the meeting will be published and made available to all participants and stakeholders.
