The aim of this project is to articulate the progress of the Central American integration process on migration issues, and to determine steps to ensure compliance with presidential agreements in this respect, particularly those related to the following components:
- Central American passport;
- Central American Visa;
- Border integration; and
- Common technological platform to transfer information among migration directorates for migration management.
The project has three main areas of action: a) diagnosis and stocktaking of progress made in the four above mentioned components as well as in any other aspect affecting migration matters and free movement of persons; b) one workshop on ‘International Standards on Travel Documents and Issuance Systems’ and coordination meetings for the ‘Establishment of a Plan to Strengthen Technological Platforms’, and c) the drafting of recommendations for the safe issuance of the Central American Visa with preliminary support for its implementation. These activities will be coordinated with other regional entities (OCAM, RCM and SG-SICA), DGME and Ministries of Foreign Affairs from SICA member countries.
