This project's strategy entails building the capacity of public administration officials responsible for working with immigrants in the Mazovia Region – the preferred settlement location for immigrant groups. The chosen counties and municipalities were those that have already had some experience working with immigrants to address their integration needs. The project will further develop the skills of the officials involved in integration work, building on knowledge and experience that they have acquired from previous work with migrant groups in the region. Through this project, the integration officials of the Mazovia region will acquire the skills essential to the handling of immigrants with regard to their integration needs, thus preventing the marginalization of migrants in Polish society and reducing the pressure on them to attempt irregular migration to Western Europe.
A partial funding of the project through a 1035 allocation of 21,160 in 2003 enabled the completion of a preliminary set of self-standing actions. This funding request follows the acknowledgement in 2003 by the 1035 Facility that funding the full project budget would be preferable and that the 1035 Facility would consider adding further funding in early 2004.
