In Bolivia, Law 263 to combat trafficking in persons and smuggling of migrants was approved in 2012, nevertheless, further efforts need to be made to prevent human-trafficking and hold traffickers criminally accountable.
One of the main challenges identified by the Government of Bolivia is the absence of an information system that collects and systematizes data related to the victims and the type of crimes.
In this regard, the project aims to strengthen the capacity of the government to generate accurate and reliable data in order to effectively implement the policy.
The project will deliver the two following outputs:
1) A study, which will aim to provide the government with a baseline on the current status of human-trafficking and smuggling of migrants as well as the institutional response to combat these crimes;
2) An information system, based on the results of the above-mentioned study, which will collect, systematize and generate accurate gender-sensitive data related to human-trafficking and smuggling of migrants.
