Faced with the many challenges that hinder its efforts in the management of migration issues, the Congolese Government is seeking the support of the IOM to strengthen the knowledge of officials to manage and mobilize diaspora resources, to fully exploit the potential of its diaspora for the development of the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
In pursuing this goal, IOM will contribute to the capacity building of officials in charge of diaspora affairs, through training workshops on the management and mobilization of the diaspora. A process of mapping qualified Congolese diaspora will be initiated in parallel with the creation of a database and a website to make available information on the profile of Congolese living abroad. A feasibility study will also be conducted to analyze the scope of setting up an investment fund that will better promote the channeling of contributions.
In addition, outreach missions will be planned to allow for coordination between the government and its diaspora. Finally, informative missions will be held in Morocco and Senegal, countries that have established a successful link with their diaspora, in order to share experiences and develop good practices.
