This project aims at filling a serious gap in data availability on international migration and mobility through a multi-component research programme that involves the collection of unique, reliable, comparative and representative data. Through this specialized national household survey 80,000 households in Egypt will be targeted. Various ministries, governmental and non-governmental organizations and research and policy studies centers in the country and regional and international organizations dealing with international migration will be provided with a timely and integrated set of reliable information suitable for formulating, implementing, monitoring and evaluating the international migration and mobility policies and programmes in a cost-effective manner.
IOM will provide support to the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) to undertake the management, analysis and reporting of data and its dissemination. This will further the capabilities of CAPMAS and other national institutions to undertake future migration and development studies and to process, analyze and disseminate information on various aspects of international mobility. Furthermore it will provide authorities in Egypt and the EU receiving counties with a wealth of information necessary for addressing mutually relevant migration and mobility issues and themes in a comprehensive and balanced manner through dialogue and cooperation.
