Monitoring Progress in Achieving the Migration Targets of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development in Armenia

The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development adopted on 1 January, 2016, explicitly call on governments and partners alike to recognize the importance of reliable and comprehensive data to facilitate migration governance and, thus, maximize the positive impact of migration on development. Building the capacities of states to gather and analyse data on migration and its link to development is, therefore, central to the implementation of the 2030 Agenda and is one of the primary steps in assessing progress made towards goal and target achievement.

The overall objective of the project is to build capacity of the Government and civil society in Armenia to initiate a sustainable monitoring process on achieved progress in the area of Migration and Development in the context of Sustainable Development Goals. The project’s objective will be achieved through the delivery of two outcomes:

• Improved understanding and knowledge in the Armenian society, including government, civil actors and donor community, about the countries’ needs in the area of migration and development in the 2030 Agenda context.

• Key institutions from the Government of Armenia capacitated to effectively, regularly and sustainably monitor progress towards achieving M&D targets within the 2030 Agenda through an evidence-based approach.
