The main objective of this project is to strengthen the capacity of the GoN, to address the health needs of inbound and outbound migrants using a multi-sectoral approach, particularly by reviewing, endorsing and implementing the National Strategic Action Plan (NSAP) on Migration Health. Specifically, the project will:
• Provide technical support and advocate for the Ministry of Health to review and endorse the NSAP on Migration Health, which when implemented will assist in comprehensively addressing health vulnerabilities of migrants and protecting their right to health through a multi-sectorial approach, and;
• Build the capacity of and support the GoN to implement selected activities outlined in the NSAP.
With this project IOM will respond to the recommendations from the Regional Dialogue on the Health Challenges for Asian Migrant Workers (July, 2010), the Dhaka Declaration (April, 2011) and the World Health Assembly Resolution 61.17 (May, 2008) and assist Nepal in implementing these global and regional commitments and comprehensively addressing the multi-faceted migration related health challenges.
