Completed
The main objective of this project is to develop a Central American joint initiative on the health of migrants and their families to contribute towards a regional health approach bringing together governments, civil society organizations, development partners, academia and the private sector. As a regional technical coordination mechanism, the main stakeholders will contribute towards regional health security to effectively advocate, promote policies, share information and support the right to health and access to prevention, treatment, care and services for migrant populations and their families in Central America.
Specifically, the joint initiative will be articulated through a knowledge management technical platform which will gather strategic information from key stakeholders regarding migrant health issues so that constructive exchange can take place virtually. The implementation of a steering committee will allow for the supervision of the technical platform and the organization of two technical and consultative meetings.
Specifically the project will:
• Design and implement the technical platform of the joint initiative using information technology;
• Centralize strategic information from key stakeholders to ensure decision making, policy-making and programming across the region to improve the health of migrants;
• Strengthen multi-sectorial and multi-stakeholder partnerships to link and operationalize regional and national strategies and action plans to promote migrants’ access to health.
