The Government of Togo through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation has requested IOM's support to build the capacity of government officials in migration management including diaspora issues.
This project will focuses on:
- Data collection and analysis: the development of a migration profile for Togo including training on collection and analysis of information for the National Institute of Demography and Statistics and the provision of equipment.
- Capacity building: A series of capacity building workshops for all the relevant stakeholders in the different ministries to understand the basic foundations of migration management, international migration law and development of a national migration policy.
- Diaspora & Regional cooperation: Three field study trips to share experiences with other countries in the region (Benin, Mali, and Morocco, to be confirmed) in addition to the provision of office and IT equipment to the Directorate of Diaspora and the creation of a website related to the Togolese Diaspora to be hosted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation.
