The project aims to support the efforts of the Plurinational State of Bolivia in the fight against trafficking in persons and the smuggling of migrants through the following activities:
-Technical Assistance to support the elaboration of public policies to combat trafficking in persons and migrant smuggling.
-Capacity building for the law enforcement officials (policemen, prosecutors and judges) at the national level through the criminalization and prosecution of the offences related to trafficking in persons and the smuggling of migrants. Likewise, the Armed Forces´ capacities will be strengthened in order to raise awareness among young soldiers, students and sailors on the risks and potential consequences associated with trafficking in persons and migrant smuggling.
-Promoting the exercise of migrants’ rights through information campaigns targeting potential migrants in the central parts of the Bolivian territory in order to reduce their vulnerability. Awareness campaigns aimed at travel agencies and tourists visiting the country will also be developed, in order to alert them to the existence of criminal networks and criminal prosecution.
