This initiative is a collaborative project between the IOM and the Ministry of Public Health (MOPH) of Thailand. It aims to improve access to primary health care services needed by migrants in two capital districts of Ranong and Samutsakorn provinces. The project will also facilitate collaboration between government/non-government and health/non-health agencies working in the same provinces as well as landowners and employers of migrants to enable an effective multi-sectoral approach, which is essential for maximizing the positive impact from limited resources. The networks of trained and qualified Migrant Community Health Workers (MCHWs) and Migrant Community Health Volunteers (MCHVs) that have already been well established by the IOM-MOPH Migrant Health Program will play a key role in providing active basic health services as well as in linking the migrants with the existing Thai public health system.
