The Serbian-Croatian border lies on an important transit route towards the European Union. As such it has been used as a gateway by smugglers and traffickers to transport goods and persons illicitly.
This project will seek to improve the cross-border co-operation and joint surveillance (management) of the southern portion of the Serbian-Croatian border by equipping two mobile border police units on each side of the border, by providing them with training on counter-smuggling and counter-trafficking techniques, and by encouraging greater exchange of information on illegal cross-border movements.
The 1035 Facility co-funding will complement UK Government funding and will be provided to implement certain activities of the project, including training.
