Support to the Capacity of the Government of Colombia in Health Emergency Preparedness and Response: a joint PAHO-IOM Initiative

This initiative is a response to the wish to intensify and systematize the collaboration between IOM and PAHO in the region and, as response to the Colombian Government's request of technical assistance in the area of service provision for internally displaced population (IDP) and other communities affected by the internal conflict in the country. The idea is to provide technical cooperation through a co-financed regional senior health advisor who will be located in Bogota. The aim is to improve the access, quality and cost - effectiveness of health services provided to mobile populations, as well as to provide opportune and relevant information on the health situation and access to health services of mobile populations in Colombia and the Andean region. This will be achieved through technical assistance to governmental and non- governmental health providers, as well as PAHO and IOM staff. The incumbent will also develop and disseminate technical standards and best practice guidelines from lessons learned in various IOM, and/or PAHO interventions in Colombia that could be replicated in other missions in the region.
