The project aims to support the Secretariat for Sudanese Working Abroad (SSWA) to reach potential migrants (Sudanese nationals contemplating emigration) and the diaspora (migrants living abroad) to provide services and information. The SSWA also wants to provide messages to their target audience that promote options for safe and orderly migration; while harnessing the untapped potential of the diaspora to support local and national development initiatives. Therefore, the SSWA has requested the technical and financial support of IOM to establish a media centre to institute sustainable outreach and establish meaningful dialogue with the Sudanese nationals and the diaspora. The project will help establish the media centre by conducting an assessment on technical and material needs and providing equipment and training on multimedia tools, content, and approaches to increase communication and engagement with the target groups. In order to strengthen and support effective communication between the SSWA, Sudanese nationals and the diaspora, representatives from the three groups will come together during an annual conference to discuss and develop a communication plan and recommendations for opportunities to engage in development initiatives.
