This project aims to support the Government of Sri Lanka’s efforts in poverty alleviation and development by enhancing labour migration management for the benefit of migrant workers, their families and communities of origin. This project aims to achieve the above by:
1. Assisting the Ministry of Foreign Employment Promotion and Welfare to determine clear priorities for labour migration through developing and implementing a national labour migration plan to improve foreign employment management.
2. Enhancing the protection and welfare of Sri Lankan migrant workers by ensuring that migrant workers are adequately trained and informed about their rights and obligations in destination countries.
3. Increasing the level of remittances for migrant workers by creating improved job opportunities for Sri Lankan workers in new markets.
