The aim of this project has been to build the capacity of the governments of the three East African countries of Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda to provide protection to their citizens working abroad and to expand legal labour migration opportunities for the benefit and development of their countries of origin. The project also assisted the governments in strengthening their institutional capacities to manage and realize their development goals through the transfer of relevant skills, financial and other resources of East Africans in the diaspora. In this regard, the project has assisted the governments to develop effective technical cooperation mechanisms on labour migration management and skills utilization.
