The main objective of the project is to contribute to building the migration data governance framework of Georgia. The Unified Migration Analytical System (UMAS), an up-to-date national infrastructure for migration data analysis, is currently functioning in test regime and has secured, received, and processed multiple datasets from the main administrative data sources in the country. Despite the modern technical solutions, a lack of analytical capacities impedes execution of the main purpose of the system, the actual analysis of technically sorted and processed migration data.

The project plans to address challenges at the strategic and executive levels and achieve the objective through the following specific outcome and related outputs. The expected outcome of the project is “the Georgian migration authorities have advanced their capacity to develop sound migration policies based on advanced data analysis in line with modern methodologies and standards”. This outcome will be enabled through delivering related outputs: a) UMAS data analysts at the PSDA, analysts and mid-level managers at the UMAS user state agencies are capacitated with advanced data analytical tools; b) the comprehensive migration data management and analysis strategy is designed, and serves for a uniform approach to administer data; and c) the PSDA analysts are trained as trainers to provide ad hoc targeted training to the respective staff of the UMAS user government agencies in data analytical tools and methods.
