Counter Trafficking Projects
National
Completed
The project aims to strengthen the capacity of the Ministry of Social Welfare to protect victims of trafficking. In the framework of the project, IOM will identify victims of trafficking and oversee the provision of shelter, medical care, counselling and legal assistance as well as voluntary return and sustainable reintegration assistance. In addition, to support the Government in its implementation of recently passed national Counter-trafficking legislation, IOM will organize two capacity-building workshops for service providers including the Government and NGOs. These workshops will focus on assessing, evaluating and improving the response to human trafficking in Sierra Leone using international standards and best practices.
The 1035 Facility contribution of USD 50,500 provides stand alone seed funding towards a larger Counter-trafficking initiative that is as yet unfunded.
