In light of FIFA World Cup which will be held in June 2010 in South Africa, the Department of Immigration Control in Zimbabwe has requested IOM to assist with computerizing the country’s border posts and provide technical support towards enhanced border management. In response to the request, IOM will through the proposed project:
i) Install a computer-based border data management system at Beitbridge Border post, Victoria Falls International Airport, and re-establish the system at the Harare International Airport.
ii) Increase capacity of the Department by providing trainings on computer-based data management system as well as basic computer operations.
iii) Employ and train personnel specializing on IT within the Department in order to address IT sustainability problems and maintain the computerized system on its own.
