This project will provide technical support and capacity building to the Government of the Republic of Namibia (GRN) – the main partner being the Ministry of Home Affairs and Immigration (MHAI) and its Directorate for Immigration and Border Control. The project is twofold:
The first component, aims to raise the profile of migration as a potentially positive force in achieving Namibia’s development priorities where IOM will provide technical support in establishing an inter-ministerial coordination mechanism, fostering joint approaches to migration management through enhanced dialogue among stakeholders.
The second component being operational in terms of capacity building, covering gap areas identified by MHAI; technical capacity in border management, practical application of Namibia’s Immigration Standard Operations Procedures Manual, Passport Examination Procedures as well as counter-trafficking.
