The project will contribute to strengthening the migration management system in Georgia with a specific focus on active engagement of the Georgian diaspora and Georgian migrants abroad.
The Office of the State Minister of Georgia on Diaspora Issues was created in 2008. One of the key functions of the State Minister’s Office is to strengthen links with the Georgian diaspora to ensure that they maintain contact with their country of origin and to engage them in the developmental processes taking place in Georgia. Since its establishment, the Office of the State Minister has undertaken a number of significant initiatives. However substantial support is required to assist the Office in successful fulfilment of their functions and tasks. The intervention logic of the project has been developed through close consultations and discussions with the State Minister’s Office on Diaspora Issues in order to reflect the current and most urgent needs of this leading state structure dealing with the diaspora. The project aims to provide support in capacity building and networking, research work, awareness raising and outreach to the Georgian diaspora and Georgian migrants abroad.
