The Egyptian government recognises the importance of enhancing communication and coordination with Egyptians abroad with the aim of a) building confidence for a conducive investment environment through new opportunities for the private sector: b) improving the positive impact of remittances on national development; c) capitalizing on the knowledge and skills-transfer of migrants returning home. Furthermore, as acknowledged at the Rabat Conference which recognized the importance of the linkages between migration and religion and its role as a central element in the formation of cohesive societies, dialogue with the Egyptian diaspora can contribute to national efforts seeking to correct the distorted image of Islam in the West.
This intervention will assist the Egyptian Ministry of Emigrant Affairs in its mission to link emigration policy with the national interest of the State by enabling:
1. A better understanding of the needs, expectations and potentialities of the Egyptian diaspora as a result of the 8 fact-finding assessments planned in the USA and Canada.
2. The promotion of a fruitful partnership between the Egyptian diaspora and the Egyptian government through a set of recommendations agreed upon during the study tour.
3. Improved collaboration with other Arab countries in clarifying the image of Islam in USA and Canada.
