Enhancing the Government of Zimbabwe’s Capacity for Effective Migration Management

The proposed project aims to contribute towards enhancing the Government of Zimbabwe (GoZ)’s capacity to better manage migration through supporting two intertwined high impact components, namely:

• Component I: Strengthening the GoZ’s Inter Ministerial Committee on Migration (IMCM) to further develop the national migration strategy and coordinate migration interventions in Zimbabwe;
• Component II: Supporting the establishment of a Migrant Resource Centre (MRC), under the auspices and within the institutional framework of the Ministry of Public Service, Labour and Social Welfare’s district offices, in Beitbridge to provide safe migration information and services to enable migrants to make informed migration decisions.

The expected outcomes include: improved capacity for the coordination, formulation and implementation of national migration policies and strategies and; improved access to accurate information and gender-sensitive migration services by migrants. The expected outputs include an established and operational secretariat within the MoFA to support IMCM activities and a functional Migrant Resource Centre established in Beitbridge.
