The Government of the Republic of Honduras has requested the assistance of the International Organization for Migration (IOM) to strengthen its capacity to collect, analyse and utilize migration data, and ultimately to prepare a Migration Profile.

Improving migration management at a national level has been identified as a priority for the Government of Honduras. This comes at a time when migration dynamics in the country and the region have become complex; however, at present in Honduras there is a severe lack of reliable migration data and analysis on which to base policy formulation and planning.

The proposed project intends to strengthen the coordination mechanisms amongst key line ministries. This will enhance their capacities on migration-related issues and feed policy planning and making processes through the development of a migration profile, highlighting data ability, gaps and recommendations.

This initiative will be capitalized by the efforts made throught the National Information Center of the Honduran Social Sector (CENISS) to create a standardized migration information system.
