The project will contribute to strengthening the capacities of consular authorities through two interdependent components:
Firstly, it will create tools that respond to the needs of the consulates, to improve their capacity in providing assistance to migrants through: a) the installation of a Call Center; b) the creation of an easy-to-use Web page that provides information on consular services and allows migrants and officials to make appointments and on-line procedures; c) and the implementation of the consular registration of migrants to facilitate their location and follow-up by consular officials.
Secondly, this project is intended to strengthen consular official’s knowledge and capacities on migrants’ rights and protection by creating a comprehensive virtual course for consular staff and by designing a tailor-made pocket guide.
In order for migrants to be aware of their rights and procedures, this project will also develop an information campaign, both in the country of destination and in the municipalities of origin of the migrants.
