The project's aims were to contribute to the global understanding of the phenomenon of migration, through the development of training, dissemination, and awareness actions on the characteristics, causes and effects of migration, in partnership with government agencies, universities, NGOs, international organizations, and other Iberoamerican and Italian regional institutions.

The specific purposes of this project have been three-fold:

1. To train and update Iberoamerican and Italian university graduates, government officials, and civil society leaders on matters related to international migration policies.

2. To develop research/action lines with a view to generating policies and programmes in order to solve problems linked to migration matters.

3. To technically cooperate and coordinate the development of training – action projects on topics combining the spheres of culture, society and migration.
