Labour Migration

The Government of Belize aims to build and strengthen its response capacity and establish programs to help properly manage labour migration in Belize. The overall objective of this project is to contribute to improved labour migration management in Belize.
Within this context the government has requested IOM’s support to implement three main components, as follows:
1) To build and strengthen the response capacity of national authorities and stakeholders in the area of labour migration management.
2) To carry out a labour market needs assessment (LMNA) in the agriculture sector.
3) To support the design of a temporary work-permit issuance program framework for the agricultural sector in Belize.
The success of this project will represent a milestone in the area of labour migration for Belize since it sets the foundation for the creation of comprehensive labour migration policies in the future.
