Despite the government’s efforts, there is a lack of data on Jamaicans living overseas. Therefore, the principal aim of this project is to determine the location, interest and skills of those who comprise the diaspora with a view of identifying opportunities for engaging them with the goal of facilitating the growth of Jamaica’s economy and human and social development.
In this regard, the project outputs will see the functioning of a coordination mechanism between IOM and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade (MFAFT), carrying out an information campaign and diaspora mobilization workshops, the improvement of IT skills within the MFAFT, documenting diaspora skills and the provision of further data on the Jamaican diaspora.
