During this first phase to be funded by the 1035 Facility, the project aims to provide the Migration and Alien Affairs General Directorate with a digital system to record the files of Nicaraguan citizens applying for travel documents, thus, guaranteeing proper data handling and an adequate information mean to corresponding authorities for decision making.
This digital database will also improve the capacity to react towards new criminal patterns resulting from globalization processes, economic and migratory integration, as well as the strengthening of the institutional capacity to fight against terrorism, international crime, trafficking in persons and migrant smuggling.
In a second and third phase, the digitization process is foreseen to be extended to the records available in order to integrate all the institution’s systems.
