This project aims to assist the Philippine government’s efforts in putting in place a harmonized set of migration data through a Migration Profile as a reference to: (a) emergency response and crisis management; (b) informed policy to protect migrants and harness the development potentials of migration; (c) responsive programming & monitoring and (d) timely public information.
Toward this goal, IOM will implement this project to: (a) convene consultative meetings and workshops with all stakeholders to map out existing migration information and management systems, identify gaps and gather recommendations (b) engage experts and consultants to draw up the framework and produce a Migration Profile for the Philippines and (c) organize dissemination sessions to promote the migration profile among policy-makers and other key stakeholders. This 12-month project will kick start the process to place the Migration Profile as a living reference and a core tool for migration knowledge management at the country level, leaving opportunities for subsequent refinements, research undertakings, technological reforms, new partnerships and coordinative arrangements and other development interventions.
