Migration Profile for Panama with a View to the Development of an Integrated Migration Policy

The proposed project will contribute to discussion, analysis and programming that address migration management and will strengthen the capacity of governmental officials and civil society.

Over a period of 18 months, the project plans to achieve the following results:

• Key personnel in government institutions and civil society trained in key areas including migration management, security and human trafficking, labour migration, irregular migration, return and remittances.
• A migration profile with a gender perspective and disaggregated data developed to help to enrich the discussion and analysis of an integrated migration policy.
• The capacity of the Migration Advisory Committee built to contribute to the formulation of an integrated migration policy.

Activities to achieve these results include: Training of key personnel in related institutions, development of a strategy and a training plan; establishing a research team responsible for the preparation of the migration profile and its subsequent drafting; provision of technical meetings and roundtables among institutions responsible for migration policy formulation.
