A two-day conference on cooperation between source and destination countries on trafficking in persons with a focus on the demand side will be organised on 26 and 27 October 2006 in Minsk, and will include the opportunity for each participating State to provide a brief update on their anti-trafficking activities.
Three broad themes will be addressed, each one to be led by an international organisation: Law Enforcement Cooperation; Protection from Labour Exploitation and Exploitation of Children
The conference will include participants from CIS, Western Europe and Gulf States. The expected outcome is a Statement with non-binding recommendations to States and practitioners on actions to further the understanding of the demand side of trafficking and ways to address it, and improving cooperation between source and destination countries.
The 1035 Facility will fund the participation of all CIS States and conference expenses.
