This project proposes to undertake a stocktaking of the current migration management process in the 11 major labour sending countries of origin in Asia to provide an overview and subsequent recommendations on its improvement. The project will have three components: a) an overview document on the major Asian labour sending countries in the region meant to provide policymakers with an synopsis of the migration process, including key issues related to pre migration procedures, recruitment processes, migrant welfare in countries of origin and destination and the return and reintegration of migrant workers; b) an expert level peer review to share and discuss the preliminary findings of the country overviews; and c) the final sharing of the findings disseminated in early 2011.
