The main objective of the project is to increase linkages between the Government of Chad and its diaspora by engaging the diaspora of targeted countries, thereby encouraging economic collaboration and leveraging the diaspora as a key development actor. It also proposes to use some of the communication tools developed in the 2016 global project, Engaging the Diaspora Online for the Development of their Country of Origin. One such tool, the iDiaspora online platform, aims to voice the challenges that migrants and diaspora communities face, and share common experiences and best practices on how they can contribute to the development of their countries.
More specifically, the project will:
1) Conduct a mapping of all the diaspora associations in France and Niger;
2) Establish an interministerial steering committee, which aims to coordinate on a regular basis the implementation of the project and engage with the diaspora;
3) Strengthen the technical capacities of multiple ministries such as the Ministry of Economy, Planning and Development and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, through two capacity-building workshops on migration and development;
4) Develop a roadmap for the Government of Chad to take concrete steps towards the engagement of its dispora; and,
5) Organize a third workshop with diaspora experts from two key sectors, health and education, to share experiences and best practices with their peers.
