This project is designed to assist the Governments of Ecuador and Peru in their efforts to promote orderly and humane migration by contributing to their goal of regularizing the labor and migration status of Peruvian migrants living in Ecuador. To achieve this aim, a protocol, an information campaign and procedures to facilitate the registration process will be established. The following activities will be implemented:
• Develop an information campaign and an outreach strategy based on focus group interviews,
• Training personnel in the registration process and the media,
• Mobilizing registration brigades in key project sites,
• Reviewing the registration requirements in order to streamline procedures,
• Hosting a regional conference where countries in the region can share their experiences in regularizing irregular migrant populations, and
• Conducting a study of the child labor exploitation among the Peruvian migrant population in southern Ecuador.
