Responding to Trafficking of Men in the Fishing Industry and Other High Risk Employment Sectors in Selected Countries of the Greater Mekong Sub-Region

This project responds to the trafficking of men in fishing and other high risk employment sectors in the Greater Mekong Sub-region. Currently there is no systematic mechanism to provide assistance and protection to such victims, due to their own lack of knowledge about their rights; lack of awareness and understanding of the problem among relevant law enforcement and protection authorities; and the fact that male trafficked victims tend to be overlooked by the existing national and regional counter-trafficking frameworks which focus on directing assistance towards women and children.

The proposed project aims to improve the identification of male victims of trafficking and enhance collaboration among government and civil society on the investigation and prosecution of traffickers and the delivery of assistance to victims to ensure that male trafficked victims are not overlooked in the fight against trafficking.

The 1035 Facility will co-fund USD 84,562 towards this project, approximately 30% of the total budget. The main donor is the US Government.
