The overall objective of the project is to strengthen the Government of Albania’s efforts to ensure migrants’ sustainable return and to utilize migrants’ experiences to the benefit of the country. The action will address the need for better sizing return migration to Albania and for policy and programmatic guidance on how to tailor reintegration support to the benefit of returning migrants and the communities where they settle.
An in-depth assessment will be undertaken in Albania and Greece to collect evidence on the impact of the world financial crises in the migratory process of Albanian citizens in Greece and the propensity of return to Albania. It will collect information on migrant’s perceptions of successful reintegration and their reintegration needs, as well as on required local service delivery. Its findings will lead toward the formulation of programmatic recommendations on how to assess returning migrants’ needs and tailor reintegration support accordingly. The findings and recommendations will be validated through a national workshop. These will then be translated into policy provisions and programmatic actions during the formulation of the National Action Plan on Migration (2013-2018) and during the midterm review of the Action Plan on Reintegration (2010-2015).
