Strengthening the Capacities of the Migration Research Institutions in Senegal

At present in Senegal, there is a severe lack of reliable migration-related data and the existing information is scattered across several research institutions. The proposed project aims to highlight critical data gaps and propose ways to address long-term data collection and management practices.

More specifically, this project will:

• Develop a situation analysis on the challenges of migration-related research and data collection;

• Produce a report on the capacity-building needs among academic and research institutions;

• Conduct capacity-building activities targeted at research institution staff and junior researchers, based on the above-mentioned report;

• Offer grants to young researchers to support migration-related research and;

• Organize an event open to the public to increase awareness on the recently developed migration-related studies.

The project aims to support the Ministry of Higher Education and Research in Senegal.
